ATTENTION LADIES!!

Attention Ladies: Be prepared to not see your boyfriends for a while. The new Grand Theft Auto video game is released this week!

The 4th game in the popular series of Grand Theft Auto games was released on Tuesday April 29th. Many friends of mine slept out for hours to get their hands on the game. I personally thought this was crazy so I looked into what made this game so cool. Many people told me that this game is the most realistic game and it gives the gamer total control of the character. In the game you are given the role as Niko Bellic a Serbian immigrant who comes in search of the “American Dream.” As Niko you must complete missions to continue the storyline and finish the game.
The game has a mature rating and is to be sold only to those 17 and older; this is due to the games reputation for having graphic violence and mature language. In the game you can car jack, kill cops and civilians, and also pick up prostitutes. The game takes place in Liberty City, which is modeled after New York City and 4 out of 5 boroughs are included ( Staten Island is excluded because the makers of the game didn’t find Staten Island’s section of the game amusing.)
The series of Grand Theft Auto games have so far sold over 70 million copies, and with the release of this game millions more are sure to be sold. With all the sales one thing is sure, Guys will be spending money on this game rather then taking their girlfriends out for dinner, and many girlfriends will have to find other things to with themselves while there boyfriends are too busy playing this game.

Scandalous!

Miley Cyrus is a 15 year old singer/actress/ entrepreneur. She is also a role model to millions of young girls worldwide who know her better as Hannah Montana. She is the star of her own Disney television show which has spawned a successful singing career. Recently pictures were released that could result in career suicide, at a photo shoot pictures were taken of Miley and her “has been” father Billy Ray Cyrus. The pictures appeared Vanity Fair and display Cyrus appeared to be topless. These pictures caused outrage from parenting groups. Some people think this is the beginning of a tailspin toward destruction much like Britney Spears.

Personally, these pictures only show her back and is less provactive then most of her pictures and get ups that she has been in. She is a positive role model for kids, but I think the media blew this story out of proportion and without the media coverage kids would be unaware of this picture.

Cyrus has not lost her job and has since apologized stating: "I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be ‘artistic’ and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed. I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologize to my fans who I care so deeply about."

The photographer Annie Lebovitz also stated an apology: "I'm sorry that my portrait of Miley has been misinterpreted. The photograph is a simple, classic portrait, shot with very little makeup, and I think it is very beautiful.”

Iron Man Returns

This past weekend my boyfriend took me out to the movies, and we saw the new superhero film Iron Man which stars Robert Downey Jr. I am not a fan of comic books and neither is my boyfriend but the film requires no knowledge coming into the theatre. The film does a great job of introducing you to Downey Jr’s character Tony Stark who is a self absorbed billionaire who has taken over his late father’s high tech arms company. Stark Industry, one of the U.S. Government’s top weapons contractors, has designed a new high-tech weapon, currently being used to obliterate insurgents in Afghanistan.

Tony and his best friend and military officer Jim Rhodes played by Terrence Howard, go to Afghanistan to see Stark's handiwork firsthand. A ride in a Humvee ends up in a deadly explosion, leaving solders dead and an injured Tony captured by Raza, the evil leader of the insurgents. Only in a comic-book movie could a prisoner build a super flying suit while in captivity. Tony escapes, and after a dual with a few U.S. Air Force jets ends up back home.

I won’t tell you the rest of the film but it is really intense and action packed. Robert Downey Jr. is great in this role. He is not a young fresh face in the role of a superhero like Toby Maguire in Spider Man and Eric Banner in The Hulk, but he shows his experience as an actor by showing his ability to be cool and laid back and the being heroic and serious. This movie is very good and hopefully you will get a chance to see it.
