Valentines Day Extravaganza

It was a Wednesday night, the day before Valentines Day and like any girl in a relationship I was anxious about the next day. Yet my case is a tad bit different. The night before Valentines day I was biting my nails because my boyfriend had yet to tell me what we were doing. Ok so a little surprise is nice every now and then but unlike a lot of people, I’m the type that needs to always know what we are doing prior to doing it. So that night I was in a kind of upset mood. I thought that we weren’t going to do anything because he had yet to tell me anything! So that morning I woke up like any other day, I went to all my classes and didn’t receive one phone call from my Valentine. At 12 when I was done with my classes I went back to my apartment with my friends. My roommate then said to me “Hey why don’t you just lay down for a few, you’ll feel better”. As I entered my room I found my bed full of roses and gifts overflowing the bed. To say the least I was in shock! My boyfriend had called up my roommate early that morning so she could open up the door and let him in so he could decorate my room. After getting over the shock of the plethora of gifts, I began to read the card. It was the cliché Valentines Day card with all that wonderful mushy gushy stuff that makes a girl feel all warm and fuzzy inside. At the end of the card it said “Be ready around 7 o’clock because I’m going to be picking you up for dinner”. I felt like such a dork because I swore we weren’t going to do anything, and he surprised me with all these wonderful gifts and a beautiful dinner.
To say the least my Valentines Day was one I will never forget. Although I felt like an idiot for half the night for under estimating him, I realized that he would never let me down on such a special day.

Valentines Day Already?!

With Valentines Day quickly approaching I figured it would be a good idea to give out some ideas to do with your loved one. For many college students’ money is always an issue. As much as we would love to spend $800 on a helicopter ride around the city or a $2000 Cartier necklace, it’s just simply out of the question. When planning your romantic valentine’s day it important to keep in mind a couple of key factors. How long have you and your significant other been together? How much are you willing to spend? Is your valentine getting you a gift in return? With these questions lingering in your head its almost impossible to find the perfect gift. I found out that the gifts with more meaning and less money tend to be the best option. For example giving your valentine a cute picture of the two of you framed, or getting a basket full of their favorite candy. As any girl knows the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, so a cute basket filled with goodies and popcorn along with his favorite DVD is always a great idea. Another cute gift is a coupon book. They come in many different versions though; the naughtier ones which could be found in Spencers are cute if your Valentine has a kinky sense of humor. If you still don’t know what to get your valentine, the cliché chocolate boxes along with a dozen red roses is always an option.
However if you are willing to spend the extra dough, a nice romantic dinner in the city has always been a classic along with a horse and carriage ride around Central Park For the gentleman reading this, the way to any women’s heart is through diamonds, clothes or purses.
If you are the person who chooses not to have a Valentine this Valentines Day, a cute thing to do would be to invite all your other friends who don’t have a valentine and just have a girl’s night in. Eating chocolate and watching The Notebook has always been a favorite amongst my girl friends.
Whether you choose the cute macaroni framed picture of you two or have an expensive ride around central park, all that matters is that you spend Valentines Day with the one you love or the people who make life worth living.

AHHH NOT ANOTHER ONE!

It seems like every time I turn on my television a new reality dating show is in the works. As I tuned into VH1 earlier this week I saw a familiar face. MTV will be producing a “A Shot At Love” Spin-Off featuring recent cast off Domenico Nessi. Not too long ago I was watching Domenico try and win the heart of singer/model Tila ‘Tequila’ Nguyen. I guess he had some sort of impact on the producers of VH1 because now he will be on the other side of the elimination stage. He will be trying to find the love of his life by having over 20 ladies live in a house. Each one will have to prove their devotion and love for Domenico, whose strong Italian accent and funny anecdotes made him the viewer’s favorite character on the show. The ladies will have to perform multiple games and tasks for the amusement of VH1 viewers and Domenico. That’s Amore will air sometime later this month.

Happily Ever After? I Think NOT

So season after season many starlets get their 15 minutes of fame by having their own reality dating show. Now if the point of these shows is to find your one and only love, your soul mate and confidant, then why are there multiple seasons? For example, in the first season on Flavor of Love, rap star Flavor Flav choose "Hoops” as the winner. Then 6 months later Flavor of Love season 2 appears on commercials. I guess Hoops didn’t last too long. Then at the end of season 2, Flavor Flav choose “Dlishuz” to be his ‘soul mate’. Only 2months after the season finale, she dumped Flavor Flav and started dating famous rap superstar Busta Rhymes. Season after season I find myself asking many questions. Do these ladies just go on the show to get their 15 minutes of fame? Or are they there for love? I guess in reality television you will never really know what’s real and what’s fake. Another example would be ‘New York’ and her dating show called I LOVE NEW YORK. At the end of the first season she choose ‘Tango’ to be her one and only. During the reunion special “Tango” ended up dumping ‘New York’, leaving New York to start auditioning new men for season 2 of I LOVE NEW YORK. So I ask you, can true love be found through reality television? I think not.

Spit your Game

Every Tuesday night me and my friends would all get together grab a bag of popcorn and watch FLAVOR OF LOVE. The corny and over dramatic reality show would always find a way to fascinate us. Rap star Flavor Flav would choose 1 girl from over 20 girls to be his soul mate. During one elimination round, one of the girls nicknamed PUMPKIN spit on NEW YORK (she is also known for having her own reality show called I LOVE NEW YORK). At that very moment all my friends where in complete shock of what had jus happened. Reality T.V might just be the lowest form of entertainment but it keeps me glued to my seat every time. Below is a Clip of the infamous spit scene. ENJOY!
